The A-Z of Unusual Words is a set of prints created by an Ireland-based illustration and graphic design team called The Project Twins. Each print represents a "strange, unusual and lost" word - and I have to admit, as I scrolled through, I didn't recognize a single one. Some of these terms are so lovely, though, I think I'm going to start incorporating them into my everyday speech. Like yonderly, which is another word for absent-minded,
or montivagant, which refers to the act of hill-wandering.
And why doesn't anyone talk about tarantism more often? Apparently, it's "a disorder characterized by an uncontrollable urge to dance." (Sounds good to me.)

Tarantism. I'm going to have to use that in a sentence tomorrow!! Love the artworks.

So cute! Have you seen that book Let's Bring Back by Lesley Blume? You might also get a kick out of it if old-timey words amuse you as they do me.
Another very cool find! I especially love the interpretation of the word into these playful illustrations. It makes it feel like a dream.
Amazing find! The illustration really helps me remember the word so I can actually use it. Confession: I always get a word of the day sent to my email and always always always forget it by lunch.

These are so great! This morning, as I was taking a walk I was just thinking about ways to enhance my vocabulary. Illustrations would certainly be helpful (and these in particular). I think "tarantism" is my favorite :)
wonderful! love these.
How cute & whimsical :)
this is super spectacular!
I want the tantarism one for my living room! Maybe it would be inspirational...
Lol - tarantism. I really like that last image!
Lovely words and lovely illustrations!
Oh, this is great! I am in such a welter over which words and prints I like the best! I also like the way it feels to say quockerwodger and vernalagnia.
so fun! tarantism makes me think of many legs like a spider...a crazy dancing spider!
Cheers!
Quindome, I haven't, but I'd love to check it out!
Hannah, that's so funny. I keep a mental list of words to look up, but I never, ever actually do it. Shameful! :)
Kathy, "quockerwodger" = definitely a winner.
