Meet the Parents.

For whiling away a Thursday morning, photos from a 1971 issue of LIFE, featuring rock musicians with their moms and dads. Below, from top to bottom: Frank Zappa, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Grace Slick, and Elton John (whose mother was quoted as saying, "We used to put him to bed in the day and get him up at night for parties").

  2. I love knowing about people's parents. I think it explains so much. I can pinpoint exact traits that I either inherited or learned from my parents, obviously. And I feel like when you can see that in another person, you know them better.
    Cool find!

  3. This Life archive is a treasure to me. I spent all this morning going through various "good ol' days". I didn't even know there once was a Japanese Beatles! Crazy!
