All That Glitters.

It's the end of what was officially the coldest week of my life. On Tuesday, when the high temperature in Brooklyn was twelve degrees, I could barely walk a block without panicking and running into the nearest storefront to pretend to shop and warm my toes. So when Freunde von Freunden posted the interview I did in July with artist and art director Aslan Malik, I gazed glassy-eyed at the images of Aslan in his t-shirt, and tried to remember what 90 degrees felt like. From the top of his Manhattan apartment building, if I remember correctly, it was pretty gosh darn nice.

One of my favorite details about the interview: discussing Aslan's fingernails, which were painted gold on his left hand only. "Last week they were dark grey," he told me. "People ask me, 'why is it just the left hand?' The answer is, because I like it. I like when things are asymmetric. It's funny, these things you figure out about yourself."

Read the full interview on Freunde von Freunden, and visit Aslan's website, here. All images by the wonderful Nick Vorderman. Have a happy weekend!
