Learning to Love Summer.

Though I grew up in Honolulu and Los Angeles, places known for year-round summers, I've always struggled with the stifling heat that July and August bring - and now that I live in New York, summer stickiness (and sweatiness, and itchiness) are new realities that've taken much getting used to. Fall and winter are more my speed, but Max's most recent batch of photos, posted to his blog last week, capture the season at its finest.  These friendly faces only add to the sunniness, as does the little guy pictured in the bottom two photos (my nephew Dash), who seems to grow more and more delectable every day.

  1. I grew up in Hawaii too...I totally know how you feel! I'm learning to love it too, or more so appreciate it while it lasts.

  5. Have you lived through an NYC winter yet? Given, they're not horrible, but I grew up in the midwest where winter really IS horrible. As humid as it gets, I'd take that over 20 degrees & 30 MPH winds, any day!

  7. Rose, I've lived through five, and I totally understand what you're saying - BUT, I think there's something sort of romantic about winter. Working from home definitely does make it better, though :)

Morgan, I'm so excited for that!

  9. I'm totally having a hard time with summer right now in LA. I just love fall and winter (in places that have fall and winter) so much! But these pictures definitely remind me why summer is awesome.

Spiritual gangster is my new favorite. I have a tank top and I'm obsessed! I want to wear it everyday.

Dash is adorable! As I'm sure you knew :)

  10. I am absolutely not a fan of summer, but I hope to become a fan when I move north to a more moderate summer climate, where 100 degree days happen a few times a month instead of every single day for three months straight.
