9 Eyes.

Loving this collection of Google Street View captures, curated by artist Jon Rafman on the website 9 Eyes. When putting together this post, I pulled a few of my favorites; only when I uploaded them to the blog did I realize they all featured animals. Figures.

Images via 9 Eyes. Thank you to the lovely Zivar for the introduction.

  1. What are the chances of capturing the butterfly! Although I think I love the one with the Houdini dog best.

  2. I so love these! I must admit to spending a lot of time on google street view just looking around and analyzing various locations and what was shot during the moment in time that they were photographing. But I've never seen any animals. I'm off to check out the referenced site now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, dear Sho! xo

  6. This is so cool! Amazing that these Google was able to capture these images. But I would not want to be standing on that street with the flock of seagulls!

  10. Oh man, I liked this! There is something really democratic about these photos - just a literal slice of life as it was being lived. No hierarchy of beauty or composition. The whole slideshow made me feel like someone was trying to explain to me "this is what it means to be human". we are a strange species.

  11. I love this. It blows my mind what the street view can capture. It's equal parts fascinating and scary, no? still, it's worth it to be able to see amazing scenes like this.
