You & Me On A Sunny Day.

San Francisco-based Rocky McCorkle is a photographer and the creator of the world's first large-format film. It's also what he calls a "walk-through movie" and a "non-motion picture," meant to be viewed through a series of ordered stills that have been mounted, museum-style, on over 1000 feet of wall.

The images for You & Me On A Sunny Day, which tells the story of a widow haunted by flashbacks of her late husband, were shot every Sunday over the course of five years. The film stars Rocky's 85-year-old downstairs neighbor, Gilda, who now plans to be an actress in her next life.

Tree Walker.

Christoph Both-Asmus had a daydream one day about walking on trees - so he's taken steps to learn the best climbing techniques, has commissioned a giant helium bubble to carry him, and plans to film the results for a project he calls The Tree Walker. Makes you think: how often do we pursue fantasies - the most outlandish ones, especially?

Says Christoph of his vision: "In my imagination, I saw myself like a projection balancing weightlessly on the highest and most fragile branches. Sinking deep into that dream - reeling, afraid of falling, pushing the thought away - I moved forward over the canopy's thinnest branches." Here he is, in action, below.

Finding Vivian Maier.

"Finding Vivian Maier" is a documentary about a nanny and now-legendary photographer whose 100,000 snapshots from the streets of Chicago and New York went undiscovered for decades. Seven years ago, they were unearthed in an auction - and the process of piecing together the artist's story began. I'm seeing the film today, and I can't wait. Find showtimes in your city, here. (Below, a few of Maier's self portraits.)

Said Maier, "I suppose nothing is meant to last forever. We have to make room for other people. It's a wheel. You get on, you have to go to the end. And then somebody has the same opportunity to go to the end and so on."

Picture Palettes.

Wes Anderson Palettes is excellent daydream fodder. Color me mesmerized.

9 Frames.

9 Film Frames is a blog that attempts to represent iconic films in just nine frames. An appealing idea - especially for someone like me, who appreciates good movies but can rarely sit still long enough to watch one. Below, a few highlights (my favorite's the second one down, assembled using stills from Fellini's Amarcord).

Thanks, My Modern Met. See more at 9 Film Frames, here. I'll be back with a new POV entry tomorrow - looking forward to sharing!
